Our People

First Baptist Church is a diverse, multicultural congregation with members drawn from every walk of life. Over 25 nationalities call First Baptist Church their spiritual home. In that way, First Baptist Church is a glimpse of the life and worship of heaven. “And they sang a new song: ‘You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you puchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation. You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God” (Rev. 5:9-10).

First Baptist Church is an elder led, congregationally governed evangelical church committed to the ministry of God’s word in all aspects of our church life.

In Scripture, we find three distinct groups of people who exercise some form of leadership in the church: the congregation, consisting of all church members; elders, those men appointed to spiritual oversight in the church; and deacons and deaconesses, who serve the congregation in hands-on, practical ways. Additionally, while not explicitly called for in the Word, we believe that we are free to staff our church in order to do ministry more effectively. These groups work in concert to fulfill the Lord’s calling to spread the Gospel to all nations.
